[THAC X] The Greatest Galactic Governor (The Best Bang Since the Big One)

Our entry to THAC X (The 10th almost annual Twenty Four Animation Contest on BiM: http://tinyurl.com/b97dyl5). The theme this year was "A Grand Unveiling" and the mod elements were a grey brick on a white brick or the letter M.
The only thing our crew could think of with the theme was this scene from "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" (Douglas Adams), in which Galactic President Zaphod Beeblebrox unveils - and steals - the prototype spaceship "Heart of Gold", which runs on an 'improbability drive'. Those who haven't yet read the book should do so (now!) as it is excellent.

The animation was pretty neat, and I really liked the blue lighting at the end. Only complaints are that the explosion effect and the music at parts were a bit out of place.

I really, really, really like the book.


I think you did a fantastic job on all of the weird aliens, but I felt that the ship should have been larger.

I am a sucker for the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. The aliens were creative and original. Great job with the film.

Thanks so much for the comments guys! We had tons of fun making all the aliens, so we're glad you like them.

@jstudios: the explosion and sound were all quite rushed, as we were running out of time, which is why they are a bit iffy...

@ANP: yeah, we also wish the ship had been a bit bigger, but it was hard to get that version into the dome, and we couldn't really build a bigger dome either. We tried quite a few different designs, and that was the best we could come up with in time, even though it could have been better.

Impressive length for 24 hours.  I'd probably appreciate it more if I had actually read The the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, but nice film anyway.
